EACR 2023 Conference Chairs

The four co-chairs for this conference are Aylin Aydinli (Associate Professor of Marketing at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), Femke van Horen (Associate Professor of Marketing at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam), Selin Atalay (Professor of Marketing at Frankfurt School of Finance and Management), and Shailendra Pratap Jain (Bret Wheat Endowed Professor of Marketing & International Business at the Foster School of Business, University of Washington). The co-chairs are engaged, research active, well-connected consumer researchers with extensive experience in the organization of conferences and event management.

Aylin Aydinli
Aylin AydinliVrije Universiteit Amsterdam

Aylin Aydinli is Associate Professor of Marketing at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. She holds a PhD in Marketing from London Business School. She has Master’s degree in International Trade from George Washington University and a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Bogazici University, Istanbul. Her research focuses on consumer responses to pricing and price promotions, influencing food choices and consumption, consumer emotions and identity. Aylin is recipient of several grants including the prestigious VENI grant from the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (2019) and ACR Transformative Consumer Research Grant (2021).

Femke van Horen
Femke van HorenVrije Universiteit Amsterdam

Femke van Horen is an Associate Professor of Marketing at the Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, The Netherlands. She obtained her PhD at Tilburg University and worked as a Post Doctoral Researcher at the University of Cologne, Germany. She investigates the effectiveness of product imitation strategies (copycatting), how environmental uncertainty (economical crises, pandemics) affects consumer decision-making, and how nudging methods can be used to increase sustainable behavior. She is a frequent speaker at International Intellectual Property conferences, the winner of the AMA Research in Practice Award (2019) for her JCR Out-of-Category Brand Imitation paper, as well as a recipient of the ACR Transformative Consumer Research Grant (2018; 2022).

Selin Atalay
Selin AtalayFrankfurt School of Finance and Management

Selin Atalay is Professor of Marketing at Frankfurt School of Finance & Management since September 2014. Before joining the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management, she has been an Associate Professor of Marketing at HEC Paris and Assistant Professor at Bilkent University. Selin Atalay holds a Ph.D. in Marketing from Penn State University. Her research interests focus primarily on consumer decision-making processes. She is interested in visual attention, retail shelf location, role of language in marketing communications. She uses eye and mouse tracking to study how consumers process information.

Shailendra Pratap Jain
Shailendra Pratap JainUniversity of Washington

Shailendra Pratap Jain (Shelly) is Bret Wheat Endowed Professor of Marketing & International Business at the Foster School of Business, University of Washington, Seattle. Shelly is a chemical engineer from BITS Pilani, an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad, and an M. Phil. and a Ph.D. in Marketing from New York University. His research interests include brand strategy, psychological segmentation, the psychology underlying food consumption, consumer addictions, advertising, cross-cultural consumer psychology, COVID, and consumer emotions. Shelly has received over 20 teaching awards and citations and is an Associate/Area Editor with Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of Consumer Psychology, and Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science.
